Place du Sureau

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Historic district, Square in Saint-Crépin
  • The Place du Sureau takes its name from the tree that stands on it. It used to be the Market Square. As for the other place, it has a funny name all the same...

  • The elder square was, it seems, the only green space inside the primitive enclosure. It was called the 'place aux herbes' because the market was held there. The place of Malborguet (pronounce Malbourguet), as for it, means place of the 'small village of the rock', 'mal' meaning 'rock' and 'borguet' 'small village' in Provençal.
