  • In the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional du Queyras lies the via ferrata de Chateau-Queyras, one of our most affordable and beautiful via ferrata in the Alps. The route unfolds below the medieval castle of Fort Queyras.

  • Running alongside the torrential Guil river, this via ferrata allows you to progress above the water, through natural gorges with a wild character. Mostly horizontal, it includes a few small vertical sections and a beautiful cable bridge to spice up the itinerary.

Two escape routes enable you to leave the route in the event of any difficulty.

Children must be at least 1.30 m tall to be able to secure themselves to the metal cables that form the lifeline.

    My advice:
Personally, I'd recommend this Château-Queyras route to anyone looking for their first via ferrata experience. It's ideal for families with children aged 9 and over (depending on their height and comfort with heights). Thanks to the modest height above the Guil river, adults, teens and children alike can enjoy the experience.

The aim is to make the most of the setting, with very moderate difficulty, accessible to as many people as possible.

During our half-day on this itinerary, we'll meet at the parking lot below the village, next to the bridge over the Guil. Depending on the ability of each group, the activity should take between 2 and 3 hours, including the equipment phase, the outward and return walks and our route on the via.

The first step is to get equipped. Once you're equipped with a climbing harness, a lanyard specifically for via ferrata climbing and a helmet, you're ready to set off in complete safety.

Once you've completed your approach walk, your instructor will explain the strict rules governing this activity, as well as tips on how to get around a via ferrata course and how to use your equipment.

What to bring: Lace-up shoes or hiking boots, a small backpack, water and snacks in case of hunger.
