Between the keep, the bakery, the powder magazine, the barracks, the washhouses and the cistern, you'll discover a whole little world of stone that was the heartbeat of the garrison.
Simple, ingenious, sometimes rustic... but always full of history and life.

During the Journées Nationales de l'Architecture, the Fort opens its doors to tell you how people lived, cooked, washed, slept and defended their piece of the mountain a few centuries ago. Because yes, even at an altitude of 1400 metres, everyday life had its architecture.
At Fort Queyras, every nook and cranny recounts a piece of daily life... and sometimes, quite a story. Even the washhouses have their moment of glory.
