Meeting in pure sky

Cultural, Astronomy in Saint-Véran
  • See you for a new astronomical meeting on the theme of exoplanets!

  • On October 6, 1995, the world of astrophysics celebrated the discovery of the first planet outside the solar system. 28 years later, we have over 5000 confirmed exoplanets. But where do all these planets come from? How do they form and evolve? Is our solar system a special case? And what conditions must be met for life to appear? Join us on Sunday 9 and Monday 10 July 2023 at Saint-Véran to find out more about the thousand and one planets that surround us!

On October 6, 1995, the world of astrophysics celebrated the discovery of the first planet outside the solar system.

A varied and accessible cultural and scientific program will enliven these two days. Fun and educational workshops, two round-table discussions hosted by Mathieu Vidard, presenter of the science program "La Terre au carré" on France Inter, a planetarium, a guided tour of the Maison du Soleil and other activities will be on offer from 10 a.m. until nightfall to discover or deepen your knowledge of astronomy.

Both evenings will be dedicated to sharing and exchange. We suggest meeting at around 8pm on both evenings, always in connection with our neighbors the planets. In the second half of the evening, as soon as the sun goes down, come and observe the celestial world that surrounds us with explanations from professional and amateur astronomers around several telescopes.
