Just like Mordor, the gorges du Guil, the impressive gateway to the Queyras, are shrouded in mystery, winding through pink, purple and black rock, alternating wide banks and narrow passages.

On the way, you'll overlook the magnificent Guil river, an amazing whitewater spot in the Alps, but also a fisherman's paradise, especially for fly-fishing!
The Guil has carved two exceptional gorges out of the rock, known as ""les combes"". The first forms a natural moat at the medieval castle of Château-Queyras. It’s bark may be worse than its bite, but we strongly advise against swimming in it - just look at it...or do the via ferrata! which overlooks it. This less impressive but more technical combe is a succession of steep, manoeuvrable rapids.
The Guil then follows the road to the ""Saut du Roi"" dam. The technical level varies between classes 4 and 5.
