Le Km vertical - Col de la Lauze

Sport, Pedestrian sports, Trail route in Abriès-Ristolas
9.8 km

Very difficult
  • In the most beautiful forest of larches and cembro pines of Queyras. Walk on a nice shaded and fresh path, not often used by hikers, to meet birds, deer and roe deer, among the flowery bed, wild strawberries and silence.

  • Alex's opinion of Km Vertical, the most beautiful in the Queyras:
"We're still in the forest, only the last 200 m are clear, and now we can see the end! Under the gaze of the Pic de la Lauze and maybe the chamois! The trail is very pleasant, often using old wooden trails, and they're steep! At the top, you can see the old Aiguilles ski resort, with the last vestiges of the Lauze ski lift! The Vallon de Peynin is a confined, protected valley, up there you're free and can finally breathe,...

The challenge is on, from 45 minutes to 1 hour.... It all depends on your fitness level and age!
By the way, it's marked out in yellow, don't follow the white, that's the limit of the forest parcels for the ONF and the marking with red circles is for winter ski touring, a great route marked out from the village of Aiguilles, in powder snow, at ease in the larches!!!!

In spring and autumn, conditions can change, and even snow-free trails can be icy. As a result, the reflex in the mountains is to go out well-equipped. In my bag, I slip or I hang: crampons and poles.

In winter, the right reflexes are: snowshoes, poles, gloves, hat, sun cream and... a survival blanket! Experience is essential, and knowing when to give up is sometimes preferable to taking risks. And if you're new to the mountains, don't hesitate to call in a professional! Before going out, I check the Météo France Montagnes and BERA bulletins (risks and avalanches).
