La place du Sureau à Saint-Crépin
Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Historic district, Square
in Saint-Crépin
-
The Place du Sureau takes its name from the tree that stands on it. It used to be the Market Square. As for the other place, it has a funny name all the same...
-
Place du Sureau appears to have been the only green space within the original compound. It was called the 'Place aux Herbes' because the market was held there. Place de Malborguet (pronounced Malbourguet), on the other hand, means place du 'petit bourg du rocher', 'mal' meaning 'rock' and 'borguet' 'little village' in Provençal.
