La Maison Eiffel

Historic site and monument in Aiguilles
  • This house, now privately owned, features a metal structure with a square tower and masonry outbuildings.
It was designed by the famous engineer Gustave Eiffel and created by the firm of Duclos in Courbevoie.

  • It was transported from Bordeaux and reassembled bit by bit after the 1895 Universal Exhibition at the request of Mr Meiffre, a wealthy migrant who had returned to his homeland and wanted a fireproof villa; he then sold it to the current owners. An architectural and technical innovation, it was one of the very first houses that could be dismantled.
