La Chapelle Saint-Simon
Historic site and monument, Religious heritage

A small chapel located in the wood of Saint Simon on the edge of the GRP "Tour de la Dent du Ratier", which is the object of a pilgrimage every year on August 6th. But why the 6th of August when the Saint Simon is the 28th of October ?

"It appears that Saint Simon is not the apostle but a monk who retired from the Petit Monastère de Molines, which was once located near the church of Saint Romain. He is said to have left his name to both the woods and the chapel. What started life as an oratory near a fountain with miraculous virtues was transformed into a chapel and destroyed many times (by an avalanche, by the Protestants, by the revolutionaries...). But the last building was inaugurated on 6 August... in 1866!

Near this chapel are the Clôt l'Henry hut and the Sommet Bucher orientation table."
A fountain to refuel.
