A nice loop to discover the different stones (erratic boulders), their names given by the ancients and follow a pretty path from the village of Molines-en-Queyras to the hamlet of Pierre-Grosse.
As part of an independent project entitled "Les pierres de notre vallée" ("The stones of our valley"), financed by a shared budget from the commune, a group of local residents have mapped out an itinerary of stones named by their ancestors. These are "peyres" (erratic boulders) that were transported during the last ice age.
This itinerary takes around 1h30 and requires good shoes or tennis shoes, and walking poles (recommended). It has an uphill section with a 100m difference in height, and a short section of road on the way down. You are entirely responsible for the unmarked route. Binoculars are recommended.
