  • Follow the red and white GR58 up the Aigue Blanche, through the larches, to the Clausis chapel, where the terrain becomes gentler, and the Lac de la Blanche and its bucolic refuge come into view. In front of you, the most iconic three-thousanders: Pointe des Sagnes Longues, Pic de Caramantran, Rocca Bianca, Tête des Toillies... (watch out for a stiff neck!). The refuge de la Blanche is the starting point for a tour of the Tête des Toillies, and an opportunity to visit our Italian neighbours...

The refuge de la Blanche is the starting point for a tour of the Tête des Toillies, and an opportunity to visit our Italian neighbours in the Valle Varaita. For the return journey, follow the same route or choose the PR path behind the refuge that leads back below the Chapelle de Clausis. There are two options for the return journey: take the shuttle bus, which charges a fee in July/August, on the track after the mines, or walk back the way you came.
