Caravan bridges the gap between East and West, and between classical music, jazz and folk. Pianist and composer Julian Schneemann, Sinan Arat on ney and voice and Duo Bottasso set off on a musical journey together, ignoring all boundaries. Expect a breathtaking musical experience, during which you'll hear Arab and Irish sounds, mixed with classical music and European jazz. And with all these influences, in the end Caravan tells a very special story: an ode to the power of diversity.
Julian Schneemann was raised on classical music, educated by jazz masters and surrounded by popular culture. Working with musicians from all over the world, he learned from all cultures - Arab, African, South American and Indian. All these influences have shaped his musical identity and fed his imagination for playing and composing on the piano. Julian enjoys exploiting this diversity. His ambition in music is to unite and connect different styles, cultures and peoples.
Sinan Arat plays the Ney (oriental flute) and sings. He was born in Erzincan (Turkey) and studied the Ney at the Ottoman Classical Music Conservatory in Izmir. He completed his master's degree at Codarts in Rotterdam under the guidance of legendary Bansuri master Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ney master Erguner.
Duo Bottasso, also known as the curious musician brothers, Simone and Nicolò, have been exploring a multitude of art forms over their 20-year career. Their contemporary approach to traditional music mixes original compositions, improvisation and elements of electronic music. Infusing Alpine roots with innovative realizations, they create utopian 21st-century folk music with gentle melodies and daring experimentation.
