  • The unmissable "two-in-one" between passes and lakes.

  • From Saint-Crépin, head towards Villaron Haut and Villard (signs), then continue on a beautiful forest road to the Grangettes parking lot, where the hike begins. From Saint-Crépin, head towards Villaron Haut and Villard (signs), then continue on a beautiful forest road to the Grangettes parking lot, where the hike begins. Larch trees surround you, and the path winds all around. The mountain clears out before you arrive at Lac du Lauzet and its welcoming banks, where you can enjoy a picnic or just laze around. The Col du Lauzet is just around the corner. It is a gateway to other cols, notably the Garnier with its breathtaking views of the iconic Écrins peaks. On the other side, like another world, similar and yet so different, the Furfande alpine chalets greet you. Take the loop back to the lake, then return to the parking lot along the same path.

In spring and autumn, conditions are changeable, and even snow-free trails can be icy. As a result, the reflex in the mountains is to "go out well equipped". In my bag, I slip or hang crampons and poles.

In winter, the right reflexes are: snowshoes, poles, gloves, hat, sun cream and... a survival blanket! Experience is essential, and knowing when to give up is sometimes preferable to taking risks. And if you're new to the mountains, don't hesitate to call in a professional! Before going out, I check the Météo France Montagnes and BERA bulletins (risks and avalanches).
