Description
An elephant is crossing the Queyras again! Artist Sebastian Mayer is traveling through the Alps in the footsteps of Hannibal with an elephant puppet carrying his 2-year-old son. The journey begins with a workshop where children can make their own puppets.
Hannibambin is at once an endurance expedition, a traveling work of art, and an absurd family adventure celebrating parenthood, imagination, and joy in the face of impossible challenges.
From August 6 to 20, the father, son, and puppet will travel 75 km from Guillestre to Crissolo, Italy. The puppet, operated entirely by the artist, carries his son in an ornate howdah. Throughout the expedition, Sebastian Mayer is raising funds for Shabang!, an inclusive British arts organization that supports children and young people with disabilities.
To kick off the journey in Guillestre, Sebastian Mayer is offering a free workshop where children can create their own elephant puppet.
