Repairing a living person: Zou
Ahmad Shah, an Afghan tailor, would have had a simple, happy life had it not been for the war and the Taliban. But then, he recounts, his leg was blown off by a mine, and he had to flee thousands of miles away from his wife and their children. In France, he met Gonzague, who helped him rebuild his life. This two-part story of struggle and friendship is brought to life with paper cut-outs and stitching, just as a wound is sutured so that it can heal, just as a fragile setting is patiently built for one's existence out of thin air.
