Description
One of this summer’s must-see events: the lively Escartons Ball in Saint-Véran! A live music performance and surprise guests are on the program in Europe’s highest municipality.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics or improve your skills through the afternoon workshops:
- FORRÓ, beginner and advanced classes from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: with Edna and the musicians from “Forró des Cimes.” A dance instructor originally from Northeast Brazil, Edna will share her passion for forró with you.
- Occitan-Italian Dances from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM: With the “Panico Occitano” collective. You can learn the basics or improve your skills in the dances of the Piedmont valleys: courantes, contredanses, and balleti!
- Introductory Folk Workshop from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: With “Panico Occitano” and a diverse group of musicians, you’ll learn the basics!
These workshops will be followed by a cross-border traditional dance party where you can put the steps you’ve learned into practice!
On the program for this dance:
At 7:00 p.m., QUEYRAS FACTORY: their repertoire combines traditional music from the Hautes-Alpes with electronic elements (pads, samples, etc.)
At 9 p.m., FORRó DES CIMES: a traditional Forró trio from the Hautes-Alpes, featuring a few covers of French songs arranged in the xote or arrasta pé style!
At 11 p.m., PULSATILLA: a joyful, colorful blend of folk dance and folk festivals. This group offers a bouquet of songs in Piedmontese, Occitan, French, or Italian, along with traditional melodies arranged for three female voices, violin, clarinet, flute, accordion, and percussion.
These groups will be followed by a jam session: musicians, it’s your turn to play!
