Description
Want to get up close and personal with the chamois? Then let’s go! With snowshoes on our feet, binoculars around our necks, and a spotting scope at the ready, we’ll explore snow-covered landscapes in search of these incredible mountain acrobats.
Chamois migrate to areas better suited to winter conditions. With a little patience and a keen eye, we’ll try to observe them in their natural habitat without disturbing them. This is an opportunity to learn more about these iconic animals: How do they survive the cold and snow? How do they navigate such steep slopes? Who are their predators? During the outing, we’ll also discover a surprising story: that of their ancestors, who weren’t really mountain dwellers! An outing combining observation, discovery, and adventure—a chance to take the time to see the mountains in a new light… and perhaps even catch the eye of a chamois.
What to bring: a backpack with warm clothes, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, warm, waterproof hiking boots, and water.
Difficulty level: 100-meter elevation gain; easy.
Reservations are required by 5:00 p.m. the day before the activity.
