Treat yourself to Mont-Dauphin! Take a little-known route that takes young and old gently up the rock face to get behind the scenes of the fortress! The fortified village, its stores and ramparts are yours to explore.
From the Marmottes parking lot, take the blocked-off road, then after 100 meters, turn right onto the path leading to the hamlet of Saint-Guillaume. From there, follow the winding paved road uphill; you’ll see an 11th-century chapel on your right. Continue until you pass under the archway and enter the fortifications. There you’ll find a charming village—formerly a military outpost—with a shop, playgrounds, and a restaurant.
After passing through the village, continue on your way to the marmot discovery trail; the descent is very gentle.
⚠️ Access to the marmot discovery trail via the Briançon Gate will not be possible from October 12 through the end of November 2026 due to restoration work.
