From Clot la Chalpe, the trail climbs gently and steadily: Molines, Pierre Grosse, Le Coin—it winds its way up through the villages and high-altitude meadows. As you continue upstream, the valley opens up and offers superb views of the border ridges. As you approach Fontgillarde, the last inhabited hamlet before the Col Agnel, the atmosphere becomes more alpine, with traditional buildings bearing witness to a rugged and authentic mountain way of life: an invitation to contemplate the varied landscape of the Queyras, amid larch forests, a crystal-clear river, gentle pastoral slopes, and rocky peaks.
The trail is open to the public year-round. It is accessible depending on weather and snow conditions. You must therefore be equipped “appropriately.”
