  • A summit worth climbing!

  • The Tête de Vautisse is a day trip. To start, allow ¾ of an hour's drive on a track from the valley floor to the parking lot at the Alp hut, the starting point of the hike. The Tête de Vautisse is a day trip. To start, allow ¾ of an hour's drive on a track from the valley floor to the parking lot at the Alp hut, the starting point of the hike. The hike begins with a gradual but lengthy ascent through a valley carpeted with vast lawns. At the next level, you're greeted by boulders set into the landscape. The torrent meanders quietly through the chaos of these mountain fragments. All around us, the peaks are pointing skywards, and we're already feeling quite perched. Gradually, the atmosphere becomes more mineral, and the bald skull of the summit closer and closer. At an altitude of 2700m, the ascent becomes brutally serious and aerial, with its steep slope through scree overflown by majestic birds of prey. After a short but sustained effort, we're there! The panoramic view will satisfy all your dreams of heights!

Please note: in winter, from Pont de Chanterane to Pont de Peyre Bartino, the route is a cross-country ski trail! It is therefore exclusively reserved for cross-country skiing.
In spring and autumn, conditions are changeable, and even without snow, the trail can be icy. So, in the mountains, the reflex to adopt is "go out well-equipped". In my bag, I slip or I hang: crampons and poles.

In winter, the right reflexes are: snowshoes, poles, gloves, hat, sun cream and... a survival blanket! Experience is essential, and knowing when to give up is sometimes preferable to taking risks. And if you're new to the mountains, we advise you to seek professional advice! Before going out, I check the Météo France Montagnes and BERA bulletins (risks and avalanches).
