From the hamlet of La Monta, take the path on the left, a little past the chapel, staying on the road (towards l'Echalp). After crossing the hay meadows among the marmots, enter the mélézin and then emerge into the mountain pasture to reach the border pass. A little further up are the ruins of a Napoleon refuge.
