in Eygliers
-
After the church of Saint-Antoine d'Eygliers and the Chapelle des Pénitents, on the road to the hamlet of La Font you will come across the small Chapelle des Combattants, dedicated to Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

It overlooks the Durance Valley. It was built by a widow from the First World War and a number of donors. The oculus features a wrought-iron dove of peace ""In memory of those who fought in the 1914-1918 war"". Inside, several frescoes depict the same doves soaring into the blue sky, messengers of peace... An unusual depiction of St John the Baptist baptising a young girl.
""John baptised Jesus and it was as he rose from the water that he received the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove""....It overlooks the Durance Valley. ""John baptised Jesus and it was as he rose from the water that he received the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove"". The frescoes are by Masson Sam and date from 2001. Inside is a plaque with inscribed names and dates in a naive style. A dove with an olive branch issuing an invitation to peace can be seen on the outside.
