Engraved stones

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Ruins and remains in Abriès-Ristolas
  • Spring 1945 ... Dozens of engraved stones which, by tradition, adorned the facades of the houses from now on devastated, are abandoned in the rubble which one evacuates.

  • Only a few stones are miraculously extracted from the ruins and find a place on a facade, at the corner of a new farm or at random on a low wall... Counting these engraved stones saved by chance and those, very rare, which did not disappear during the war, about forty petroglyphs punctuate the streets and the buildings of the village today. It is to the discovery of a part of this unique heritage that we invite you now.
