Very difficult
  • Between forest, mountain pasture and ridge, this loop seduces with its diversity.

  • If you pass in front of Ste Cécile church, you're on the right track! Cross the "le Queyras" housing estate and follow in the footsteps of Philippe Lamour, former mayor of Ceillac and initiator of the famous GR 58. The tight switchbacks in the Cheynet forest will keep your calves in check! The tight switchbacks in the Cheynet forest will keep your calves in check! And no, the first plateau isn't the finish line, but if you feel a little weak, you can loop around by taking the little path towards Le Villard on the right. Otherwise, the climb continues to the Col de Bramousse. A little more effort and you'll reach the Chambrettes ridge and its mineral world. A detour to Château Grossan is worthwhile for its panoramic views. Finally, a well-deserved stop at the Chambrettes optical station, the highest point of the hike, offers a view of the Cristillan valley, the village and the Font Sancte range. To complete the tour, descend to Col Fromage and then to the hamlet of Villard to Ceillac.

In spring and autumn, conditions are changeable, and even snow-free trails can be icy. As a result, the reflex in the mountains is to "go out well equipped". In my bag, I slip or I hang: crampons and poles.

In winter, the right reflexes are: snowshoes, poles, gloves, hat, sun cream and... a survival blanket! Experience is essential, and knowing when to give up is sometimes preferable to taking risks. And if you're new to the mountains, don't hesitate to call in a professional! Before going out, I check the Météo France Montagnes and BERA bulletins (risks and avalanches).
