Maison Eiffel

Historic site and monument in Aiguilles
  • This house, now privately owned, is characterized by its metal structure with a square tower completed by masonry outbuildings.
It was designed by the famous engineer Gustave Eiffel and created by the Duclos company in Courbevoie.

  • It was transported from Bordeaux and reassembled in needles after the 1895 World's Fair at the request of Mr. Meiffre, a wealthy migrant back home who wanted a fireproof villa; he then sold it to the current owners. Architectural and technical innovation, it is one of the very first dismountable houses.
