Fontaine de la Font d'Eygliers

  • In the past the fountain was the social network of the village! The washerwomen, while taking care of the laundry, exchanged information. The water was also used to give water to men and animals, to water the vegetable garden and sometimes to put out a fire.

  • It was a strategic place where everyone had to pass several times a day! Today it is the hikers and mountain bikers who stop there to fill their water bottles and take a selfie in front of a beautiful flowerpot!
    Many fountains in this area remind us of the origin of the name "Font" (spring).
    But do you know what this little basin dug in the ground (called "naïs" here) near the fountain was used for? It was for rolling hemp. Don't get me wrong, it was for industrial hemp and its famous...
